Lava launches Iris Pro 30 with 4.7-inch HD display, Android 4.2 in India

Lava Mobiles has launched the Iris Pro 30 smartphone in India under its new Iris Pro premium series. The dual-SIM Android handset will be available on store shelves for Rs. 15,999 from the third week of January.

The Lava Iris Pro 30 features a 4.7-inch HD (1280×720 pixel) IPS OGS Sharp display with a pixel density of 312 ppi, and Corning Gorilla Glass shielding.  It is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, coupled with the SGX544 GPU and 1GB of RAM. In terms of storage, it features 4GB of internal storage, which can be expanded by up to 32GB using a microSD card.

The Iris Pro 30 comes with an 8-megapixel rear BSI sensor camera with dual-LED flash and a 3-megapixel camera at the front. It is powered by a 2,000 mAh battery, which company claims is good enough for 4.5 hours of talktime and 400 hours on standby mode. Connectivity features of the Lava Iris Pro 30 include 3G (HSPA+), Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS/A-GPS, Micro-USB with OTG, and a 3.5mm audio jack.

On the software front, it offers Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean out-of-the-box and comes with CABC Content Adaptive backlight control for the display. Lava also mentioned OTA updates for the device.

With this phone series, Lava is targeting other players like Micromax which has been ruling the mid-range smartphone market, as well as Gionee which has recently entered the premium smartphone market in India.
